Arriving in Lhasa (in the morning). Rest and acclimatisation compulsory for the rest of the day, before going out in the old city of Lhasa, near the temple of Johkang.

Visit of Johkang Temple and lunch around the square - at New Mandala restaurant for example. The afternoon can be dedicated to a visit to the monastery of Sera, especially to attend the famous "discussions".

This is the highlight of a visit to Lhasa: a visit to the Palace of Potala and the Norbulingka Garden.




Day 4 : Getaway in Lake Namtso

Weather permitting, consider making a return trip Namtso lake, a beautiful lake more than 4,000 metres above sea level.




Day 5 : Discovering Tibetan Buddhism

In the vicinity of Lhasa, learn about Tibetan Buddhism through the visit of the monastery of Drepung, and the visit of the monastery of Ganden.




Day 6 : Shopping break at the Barkhor market



Before leaving Lhasa for a visit to the Tibetan plateau, plan to shop various souvenirs in the Barkhor market.




Day 7 : Gyantse and its citadel



Leave for Gyantse and admire the superb view on the roads of the Tibetan plateau. Upon your arrival, visit the monastery and the adjoining citadel.




Day 8 : The Shigatse monastery



From Gyantse, take the road to Shigatse and after you have settled in, visit its sublime and famous monastery.

Take advantage of your presence in the edge of the Tibetan plateau, to visit its immediate vicinity, including the monastery of Sakya.




Day 10 : On the way to Lhasa



Returning to Lhasa, passing near the Karo La glacier.

Rest and visit of the monastery of Samye.




Day 12 : Returning to the palace of Polata



It is a question of making a 2nd visit of this majestic site. Indeed, each visit is different since it is limited in duration. Then, do not hesitate to multiply the visits to truly discover this jewel of humanity.




Day 13 : Departure



This is the time to say goodbye to the Yeti country and catch a plane back to Beijing, via Chengdu.
