Crisscrossing the country from north to south, you will discover the ancient cities of Jerash, Umm Qais and the Shaubak Krak in the Jordan Valley; you will then descend to the unusual Dead Sea and then take the mythical Route of the Kings to reach the famous city of Petra. Further south, you will explore the beautiful Dana Reserve which is home to exceptional flora and fauna... Day 1 : Amman

Day 2 : Amman - Jerash - Umm Qais

Departure to the north of Amman to discover the most important Greco-Roman site of the Middle East: Jerash. This Roman city of the Middle East is often compared to Pompeii; it is admirably preserved and you can admire the triumphal arches, the hippodrome, the forum (public square) with colonnades, the amphitheatres... Impressive! Continue along the banks of the Jordan and arrive at the site of Umm Qais, another Greco-Roman city that dominates Lake Tiberias, the Jordan Valley and the Golan... Umm Qais was called in Roman times Gadara but also Antioch; it was part of the cities of the Decapolis. It is built on top of a hill, on a narrow ridge; the only access to this "stronghold" is the gentle slope that descends to the east; in this city are the ruins of two theatres, a basilica, a temple and many important buildings. The city is also crossed by a superb paved street with double colonnades; it was also equipped with an aqueduct that brought water from Mount Hermon; it was one of the longest of the Roman Empire. The views of Lake Tiberiade, the Jordan Valley and the Golan are superb.

Day 3 : Umm Qais - Jourdan Valley - Dead Sea - Madaba

Descent into the Jordan Valley to reach the Dead Sea, 400 m below sea level... Unusual swimming not to be missed in order to test the exceptional buoyancy (showers and changing rooms available)... Going up in the late afternoon on Madaba, the city famous for its Byzantine mosaics, then strolling in the shopping streets... Dinner in a traditional Jordanian restaurant.

Day 4 : Madaba - Mount Nebo - Road of the Kings - Kerak - Dana

Visit of Madaba with the Church of Saint George and its famous mosaic of the Holy Land and Jerusalem dating from the 6th century; then climb on Mount Nebo and visit its monastery. From this Mount, Moses would have seen the Promised Land before he died. On a clear day, the views are superb over the Dead Sea, the Judean Mountains and the Oasis of Jericho. Continuation by the Road of the Kings and discovery of the grandiose fortress of the crusaders of Kerak which dominates the whole region and the Dead Sea... This castle, mythical in the history of the Crusades, saw successive important battles between the armies of Saladin and the crusaders.
Then head to the Dana Biosphere Reserve where many animal and plant species have found refuge.

Day 5 : Reserve of Dana - Shaubak - Siq al Barid (Little Petra)

Hiking in the reserve of Dana, to discover the fauna and flora endemic Jordanian where the landscapes composed of canyons with lush vegetation still shelter the mysterious cat of the sands and the antelope Oryx... Then head to the Shaubak Krack Castle and visit this ancient fortress overlooking the desert and part of the numerous castles built by the crusaders. Dating from the twelfth century, at the time of the Crusades, it controlled the trade routes connecting Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula and the Red Sea. Then arrive on Little Petra, the small town that announces the main entrance of the legendary Petra... Discovery of the caravanserai of Siq al Barid with its temples, tricliniums and bicliniums.

Day 6 : Petra: El Deir Monastery - Qsar el Bint - El Khazned (the Treasury)

Hike in the famous city of Petra with the discovery of the El Deir Monastery and its 800 steps! A superb monument carved on the rock, with gigantic dimensions! Beautiful view of Wadi Araba and Mount Haroun (tomb where the ashes of Moses' brother Aaron would be found). Then down to the Qsar el Bint, practically the only building to have been built on foot and not dug into the rock. Continue the visit by going down the street of the colonnades, then the royal tombs, the theater and the treasure el Khazned, the famous facade with sculptures and impressive architecture.

Day 7 : Desert of Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum Desert... Superb hike in these immensity of red sand from which emerge, as if by enchantment, gigantic blocks of ochre stone... Discovery of the 7 Pillars of Wisdom, immense cliffs of several hundred meters high soaring from a single stream towards the sky... Continuation in the valley of Umm Ushrin then arrived under the famous natural arch of Umm Fruth, a gigantic bridge suspended in the desert, above the sands... It will be easy for those who wish to climb on this natural monument. Continue the hike in the afternoon towards the Arch of Burdha, another natural stone bridge, suspended, also in the middle of the Sahara... the scenery is absolutely grandiose! Traditional evening meal, prepared by the team.

Day 8 : Wadi Rum - Aqaba and Dead Sea

Last departure on foot in the desert of Wadi Rum and the valley of Lawrence of Arabia which was so dear to the latter. Discover the Siq al Barrah, a valley surrounded by canyons and rocks with unusual shapes. Transfer to Aqaba on the shores of the Red Sea. Lunch in a restaurant of traditional cuisine then free afternoon to visit the city and enjoy the swimming whose coral bottoms are the most beautiful in the world.

Day 9 : Return flight

Transfer back to Amman; free time if flight time permits; flight to France. Arrival possible on day 10 in France.
