The four-day journey will take you through the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Narok County, the land of the Maa people. The Maasai Mara, world-famous for hosting the epic Great Migration, welcomes more than 1.2 million wildebeests onto its sprawling savannahs. From there, you’ll head to Lake Naivasha, which dominates the landscape and is surrounded by a swamp covering approximately 62 km². Beyond the swampland, the lake is encircled by forests of fever trees. Giraffes, zebras, impalas, and waterbucks can be spotted in the immediate surroundings of Lake Naivasha, particularly around Crescent Island, Crater Lake Game Sanctuary, and Longonot National Park.
day 1:
Nairobi (JKIA) - Maasai Mara National ReserveToday, you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel and given a pre-departure meeting at your hotel or at the airport, in your car, ready for the safari. This will depend on your preferred pick-up choice. You will then drive through the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Narok County, the land of the Maa people. Maasai Mara National Reserve is part of the vast Serengeti Plains, famously known for the spectacular Great Wildebeest Migration and home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. The inter-county borders separate these two great national parks. Upon arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge/camp and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive. Accommodation: Mara Chui Camp.
day 2:
Maasai Mara National ReserveOn the second day, you will wake up and have your morning breakfast, freshly prepared and ready to be served. Today, you will embark on a full-day game drive in the reserve, with a picnic lunch. Maasai Mara National Reserve is a preserved savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The Mara Triangle, bordering the Mara River, is characterized by lush grasslands and acacia woodlands, making it an excellent location for game drives. The Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which takes place annually from July to September. During these months, the golden savannah is dotted with more than 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water. Accommodation: Mara Chui Camp.
day 3:
Masai Mara National Reserve - Lake Naivasha ParkAfter breakfast, you will head south, passing through Naivasha town and driving around the southern end of the lake, past the flower farms, to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. As you enter the park, an impressive landscape unfolds before you—a semi-arid world of sheer rugged cliffs, open plains, and deep, concealed gorges. In the afternoon, you can take an optional boat ride at an additional cost, offering a scenic view of Lake Naivasha among colonies of hippos. Hell’s Gate offers a variety of activities, including walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching, and trekking through the gorge among the geysers—the choice is yours. Enjoy a picnic lunch before departing mid-afternoon for your accommodation on Lake Naivasha, where you can unwind with a well-earned hot shower and a refreshing drink. Accommodation: Naivasha West Beach Camp.
