Discover the Teide. Start by visiting the picturesque village of La Orotava, then take the road from the village up to the entrance of El Portillo Park. On the way, stop at one of the many scenic restaurants along the road. Cheap and very typical, they offer a view of the valley not to be missed. The ascent is marked by watchtowers and rocky features, you pass in the middle of the pine forest before reaching the summit, more peeled. The road towards the cable car passes through lunar landscapes. Then opt for the 2-hour walk to Roque de Garcia which makes a loop. Then take the road to Santiago to go down again, just before sunset to admire the islands of La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera over a sea of clouds, then you will pass through your first lava field, the one that almost swallowed the village below. Head for the coastal road to Puerto de la Cruz! You will dine in a typical and colourful alleyway of the Muelle, and have a drink on Plaza del Charco.

Follow your road Garachico, another village that deserves a small walk in the historic pedestrian centre. Then take the typical road of the Teno massif, passing through Buenaventura, and push up to the lighthouse of the Teno, at the western tip of the island. Start the day by relaxing on the beautiful white sandy beach of Maspalomas, with the sea of dunes in the background. In the afternoon, do not miss a visit to the superb city of Las Palmas, without missing the Casa de Colón and the other exceptional museums in the historic centre of Vegueta and Triana, including the Canario Museum for its exhibition on the Guanches, this primitive pre-Hispanic people. Take the opportunity to buy your souvenirs. Treat yourself to a good meal for this last evening, then go for a drink in a lively bar in San Telmo.

From Las Palmas, pass through the typical village of Terror, then climb up through Vega de San Mateo to reach the circular road traced at the top of the island. Don't miss the island's summit, the Pozo de las Nieves, and the short hike (45 minutes) that leads to the foot of Roque Nublo, a gigantic monolith. From there, let yourself be carried away by the majestic view over a large part of the island and the peak of Teide, on Tenerife just opposite. Go eat at Tejeda. Take a detour to the troglodyte village of Artenara before descending to the beautiful village of San Bartolomé. The road then splits to lead to Santa Lucia or Fataga. Whatever your choice (we recommend Fataga), the road will be incredibly steep. For your last moment on the island, enjoy the last rays of sunshine on Maspalomas beach very close to the road you have just gone down. Take one last dive into the ocean before dinner on the terrace.
