Roadtrip in the Yucatan

Upon arrival at the airport, we will give you all the directions to easily exit the airport and join our Xplorer who will welcome you outside.

Arrivals are usually in the late afternoon or early evening, so we plan your first night in Cancun. 

After picking up your rental car, depart Cancun for the charming colonial city of Valladolid, classified as a Pueblo Magico. Take the time to stroll through the "zocalo", the historic city centre with its colourful streets, its white cathedral, the municipal bazaar or the San Bernardino Convent.

As an option, we suggest you visit a beekeeping centre where the Mayan bee is still kept, or a local distillery to discover the production of the most famous Mexican alcohol: Tequila. 

Départ pour le petit village de pêcheurs de Rio Lagartos dans la matinée pour visiter cette réserve naturelle qui ravira les amoureux de la nature. Plus de 200 espèces d'oiseaux y ont élu domicile. En option, vous pourrez embarquer sur un petit bateau pour naviguer dans la mangrove et observer la faune et la flore de ce milieu insolite.

Then head for the famous pink lagoon of Las Coloradas, which owes its name to the salinity of the water which gives it an incredible pink colour!

In the afternoon you will drive to Ek Balam, a little known but absolutely beautiful Mayan site. The visit is worth the diversions!

After breakfast you will leave for the "pueblo magico" of Izamal to visit its famous convent adorned in yellow and its charming little town centre.

From the yellow of Izamal we move on to the white of Merida, the capital of the state of Yucatan. Take the afternoon to visit its cathedral, its "paseo Montejo" lined with the sumptuous mansions of the former masters of the hennequen, its zocalo, or the Governor's palace.

Ce matin, vous découvrirez le site maya d'Uxmal, l'un des sites archéologiques les plus importants du Yucatan. Vous admirerez ses monuments à l'architecture typique comme le quadrilatère des religieuses ou le palais du gouverneur. Possibilité de demander les services d'un guide anglophone, offert un supplément.

Pour le déjeuner, nous vous offrons la possibilité d'un déjeuner authentique avec une famille maya.

The afternoon will be dedicated to nature with a mountain bike ride and a swim in a cenote, all in the exceptional setting of the Yucatecan jungle. Return to Merida at the end of the day.

Today, we advise you to take the road early enough to enjoy the site of Chichen Itza classified among the "new wonders of the world" by the UNESCO before the crowd and the heat. You will be amazed by the architectural beauty of these ruins and in particular the pyramid of Kukulkan. Possibility of requesting the services of a French-speaking guide, at an additional cost.

Afterwards, you will have the possibility to refresh yourself in a cenote near the site.

After lunch, departure for the Riviera Maya and the small tourist town of Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy the end of the day strolling through the lively streets or taking a dip in the Caribbean Sea!

Then, it's time to pack your bags before heading to the Cancun airport.

It is possible to ask for the return of the vehicle earlier and to book a transfer back to the airport.
