At the beginning of the morning, transfer to Gordes (10 km) one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its narrow streets that meander between tall buildings, built on the rock and dominated by its castle. The painters Marc Chagall and Pol Mara (museum at the castle), the Hungarian artist, Victor Vasarely among others, found inspiration there. Then departure for the Abbey of Sénanque, magnificent Cistercian monastery since 1148, nestled in the hollow of a lost valley. Our path goes around the Grande Combe valley to the Fontaine de Vaucluse, famous for the biggest spring (exsurgence) of France, the Sorgue. Transfer back to Lumières (18 km). After a short transfer (8 km), our day starts in Bonnieux, one of the most beautiful perched villages on the north side of the Luberon. It offers a panoramic view of the Calavon valley, the Monts of Vaucluse and the Ventoux. Its high, half-Romanesque, half-Gothic church, at 425 m of altitude, dominates this pretty village which watches over the combe of Lourmarin, the only road crossing the Luberon. From here we go through the orchards and vineyards to Lacoste, famous for its stone quarries and alleys dominated by the castle of the Marquis of Sade, currently owned by Pierre Cardin. Back to Lumières by the hills, passing by an unusual borie (dry stone hut).

We start by visiting the village of Roussillon, its cliffs, its colourful facades and its alleys leading to the Castrum, where the medieval castle used to rise, then we continue by the path of St Jean which sneaks between ancient ochre quarries, while evoking the origin and extraction of this unusual material. Return to Lumières. Dispersion in early afternoon.
