A wild world full of discoveries
The country's landlocked position, its vast wetlands, and the variety of its natural habitats have fostered an impressive diversity of plant and animal life. The large wildlife of the African savannas is particularly well represented with its large predators, pachyderms, and numerous species of ungulates, some of which are endemic. Zambia is home to more than 750 bird species, including the emblematic shoebill, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
The country has many protected areas, sometimes very large, which receive special attention from the Administration and its partners. Although tourism is developed there, its infrastructure is generally integrated, even at Victoria Falls, a prime tourist site, but access to which is not cluttered by souvenir stalls. In fact, Zambia retains a real sense of adventure.
