A Cultural Journey Beyond the Clichés
Shops, cigarettes, alcohol, perfumes, ski resorts... True! But Andorra is also a country that has managed to preserve its heritage, to be discovered through its museums. About twenty museums invite you to learn about Andorran history and culture: the Tobacco Museum and the Rossell Forge, representing the economy; the Cristo, Rull, or Areny-Plandolit house-museums, witnesses to the old agricultural way of life; the Casa de la Vall or the Meritxell Sanctuary, emblematic historic buildings.
There is also the Museum of Sacred Art, the Miniature Museum; the National Automobile Museum, the Two-Wheel Museum, the Perfume Museum, the Water Museum, and even the Postal Museum. These places symbolize the uniqueness of the Principality. The Romanesque Art Interpretation Center and the Nature Center in Cortinada as well as the art center in Escaldes-Engordany are explanatory landmarks of the landscape. Moreover, these museums are often modern and ingenious, and accessible at affordable prices.
