A destination yet to be discovered
Here, you are far from mass tourism and the cultural changes it often entails. Tourism in Eritrea is primarily local, thriving thanks to expatriates; foreigners visiting the country are quite rare. The lack of tourist infrastructure leads to a total immersion for the visitor into the heart of local life, resulting in a truly authentic contact, full of surprises and wonder.
Various forms of tourism are available to the traveler: exploring the rich and diverse architectural heritage of Asmara and Massawa or discovering the different natural landscapes characteristic of Africa - bush, savannah, steppe, desert, not to mention the islands and underwater depths; trying the steam train or a sambuk cruise; immersing yourself in local customs by visiting numerous markets or attending a coffee ceremony... Enthusiasts of thrilling experiences and total change of scenery will not be disappointed.

Cultural Mixing and Geographic Diversity
Due to its strategic location on the trade routes of the Red Sea since ancient times, Eritrean culture has inherited a diverse population with various origins and influences. This has led to an atypical culture in Africa. This identity is expressed in diverse areas such as languages, with nine recognized national languages and others spoken. There are as many different ethnic groups. The architecture is also varied, ranging from Art Deco to Ottoman and ethnic styles. The cuisine is rich, blending tradition and Italian influences. Religious practices are equally diverse: Catholic, Orthodox, or Muslim. Nowhere else on the continent will you find such a cultural mosaic. The geographical contrasts, from arid highlands to deep valleys, fertile hills, and the sandy coastal plain, offer extremely varied landscapes for such a small country.
An attractive and diverse climate
Due to its geographical location and topography, Eritrea enjoys a very favorable climate for much of the year. On the high plateaus, from September to February, the sun is almost guaranteed daily and the temperature remains consistently mild, ranging between 20 and 25 °C. Those who enjoy "African warmth" will find what they are looking for on the coast, where the average temperature is 30°C in Massawa, except during the summer when the heat can be overwhelming.
An Exceptional Hospitality
The Eritreans are very welcoming, always ready to help, eager to talk to the foreign visitor. Receiving a stranger is an honor for the host, who will make it a point to make their stay as pleasant as possible. The coffee ceremony is the very symbol of Eritrean hospitality: attending the preparation of the coffee, being invited to smell the aroma of roasted beans and give one's critical opinion before being served several times, are all gestures that reflect this culture of hospitality in Eritrea.
