Nairobi City - Maasai Mara National ReserveToday, you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel and given a pre-departure briefing before starting your safari adventure. Your journey takes you through the Great Rift Valley escarpment viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramas, before continuing to Narok County, the homeland of the Maa people. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is an extension of the vast Serengeti plains, world-famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration and home to the legendary Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino. The inter-county borders have divided these two remarkable national parks, yet they remain part of the same thriving ecosystem. Upon arrival at your lodge/camp, enjoy a delicious lunch and some relaxation time before embarking on an afternoon game drive. Today, you will embark on a full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, with a picnic lunch to enjoy in the wilderness. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a vast expanse of protected savannah in southwestern Kenya, along the Tanzanian border. The Mara Triangle, which borders the Mara River, is characterized by lush grasslands and acacia woodlands, making it an excellent area for wildlife viewing. The Maasai Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which occurs annually from July to September. During these months, the golden savannah is transformed as over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes migrate from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water. Although lesser-known than the Serengeti, Tarangire boasts an incredible diversity of wildlife, making it an excellent destination for those looking to experience a rich safari with fewer crowds. The park is particularly famous for its large herds of elephants, as well as an abundance of wildlife species, especially during the dry season, when the Tarangire River becomes the only major water source in the region. Tarangire National Park - Serengeti National ParkAfter breakfast, you will be transferred to the world-famous Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s most renowned wildlife reserve, often compared to Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival, you will embark on an exciting game drive through the Serengeti, widely regarded as Tanzania’s premier national park. This vast ecosystem is home to large herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and numerous antelope species, including eland, topi, kongoni, and impala, which can be seen year-round. The Serengeti is also famous for its big cats: Lions are frequently spotted, often near a fresh kill. Cheetahs are commonly found in the southeastern plains.
