The first day will be devoted to the visit of the historic centre, to immediately enjoy the atmosphere of the capital. Discover the cathedral, the museum of the Templo Mayor and the Palacio de Bellas Artes. In the evening, climb to the viewpoint of La Torre Latinoamericana to discover Mexico City from the sky.
Visit of the unmissable museum of anthropology. Late lunch in a restaurant in the Polanco district to regain strength and then, afternoon relaxation in the neighbourhood: window shopping, coffee on a terrace, stroling through the streets.
Walk in the wood of Chapultepec. We will not miss the visit to the Río Lerma reservoir, which is decorated with a magnificent Diego Rivera fresco entitled Water, the origin of life. Those travelling with children will visit the beautiful zoo Alfonso L. Herrera. Then, walk along the Paseo de La Reforma to admire the statues depicting various episodes of Mexican history. Dinner and evening in the Zona Rosa.
Visit of the Coyoacán district, where the houses of Frida Kahlo and León Trotsky are located.
The fifth day will be devoted to the visit of the Campus of Ciudad Universitaria, catalogued Cultural heritage of mankind: the frescoes of Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Juan O'Gorman; artistic space in the open air; the university museum of contemporary art; the ecological reserve. If you still have strengths, go to the nearby Cuicuilco pyramid.
On Saturday morning, a very beautiful handicraft and paintings market settled in the San Ángel district. That is where we go. After finishing the shopping, walk in the streets of the neighborhood and visit the former convent del Carmen. Evening on Piace Garibaldi to listen to mariachis.
Boat ride to discover the floating gardens of Xochimilco.
Now that we are acclimatized to Mexico City, back in the historical center, but this time to discover more unusual places: the magic market, the archaeological site of Tlatelolco, the cemetery of San Fernando, possibly the district of Tepito if you are accompanied by a local guide.
Discovery on foot of the Roma and Condesa districts.
Visit of the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, north of the city.
Discovery of one of Mexico's national parks: The Ajusco park. In the afternoon, visit of the Tlalpan district where you will dine.
In the morning, visit of the impressive Central of Abastos, where all the goods and food consumed by the residents of Mexico City arrive before being distributed to small traders. In the afternoon, visit of the {1}Ciudadela{/1} handicraft market to buy some souvenirs before departure. As it is Friday, we will see the show of Lucha Libre at the Arena Mexico, which is located close to the Ciudadela.
Getaway to Tepoztlán, in the state of Morelos, to breath and rest a little from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City. Go up the mountain of the Tepozteco where a pyramid is located at the top from which you can see the whole valley. Walk in the small streets of the village, discover the local gastronomy and romantic evening. We spend the night in Tepoztlán.
Visit of the archaeological site of Xochicalco and return to Mexico City. Departure the next day.
