One week is not enough to discover South Africa. This holiday suggestion allows you to discover different facets, such as its diverse fauna, with the watching of penguins, dolphins, and the Big Five's search, a safari, or its large cities, with a in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

When you arrive in Johannesburg, make a tour of Soweto with a guide. Lunch on site in a shebeen and visit Nelson Mandela's former house (included in some organized tours). In the afternoon, visit the Apartheid Museum. Dinner at Parktown North, according to your wishes.
Make a shopping at the African Craft Market of Rosebank (the ideal place to bring back souvenirs), otherwise at Sandton City Shopping Center. After lunch, take the road for Hartbeespoort Dam and spend a moment at the elephant sanctuary (plan 4 hours). Trip back to Johannesburg. You can spend the evening in the theatre, for example.
Leave early. Take the N4 towards Nelspruit. Stop at the Ndebele village. Continue on the R532 and admire the impressive Bourke's Luck Potholes. Reach the Kruger Park by the R536 and spend the evening and night at Camp Skukuza. Think of reserving a morning drive for the next morning.
After the morning drive, have a brunch on one of the picnic areas, with supermarkets and gas barbecues, then go along Kruger for the Big five. Spend the night in a safari tent.
Back to Johannesburg. Take the Blue Train or the First Class Train towards Le Cap. Dinner, night and breakfast on board (1 day trip).
Stroll through the VA Water Front, enjoy your shopping. Go aboard one of the boats to discover Robben Island. In the evening, enjoy a drink and dine on Camp's Bay while admiring the sunset.
Departure for Stellenbosh. Stop at Constantia, renowned for its white wines. For lunch, you can choose among several gourmet restaurants (with wine tasting) in Stellenbosh itself. Finally, continue to Paarl, and opt for a little digestive walk.
Use the cable car to get to the top of Table Mountain. You can lunch there. Then cross the national park by taking the Chapman's Peak (when the road is open), which will take you to the Cape of Good Hope, otherwise take the M4. At the end of the day, go to Kalk Bay in one of the colourful bars facing the ocean.
Enjoy a restful morning on the Boulder Beach and its famous penguins, then go to the Cape Town downtown, the Green Market Square. Maybe you'll have the chance to meet the famous Egg Man. Dine in one of Green Point's restaurants.
Spend the morning in Hermanus if you are there during the whale season. Otherwise choose a guided settlement of the townships (multicoloured houses of Bo Kaap, District Six Museum). Back trip by plane.
