You'll start your visit in the country's capital, Tirana. It's a dynamic, lively city, with a mix of old and new architecture, colorful buildings and numerous museums and galleries.
Afterwards, you'll visit Durres, one of Albania's oldest towns, with a history dating back to the 7th century BC. The town is located on the Adriatic Sea, about 30 minutes from Tirana by car. One of Durres' main attractions is the Roman amphitheater and archaeological museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the ancient city.
Next, you'll explore Vlorë, a coastal town in southern Albania, about 2h30 from Tirana by car. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, relaxed atmosphere and the Independence Monument commemorating Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire.
You'll continue on to Berat, a historic town in central Albania, about 2 hours from Tirana by car. The town is known for its beautiful Ottoman-era architecture, Berat Castle, which was built in the 13th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Onufri Museum, located in St. Mary's Cathedral, which features various religious objects from the Byzantine and post-Byzantine eras.
Afterwards, you'll head for Sarande, a small seaside town in southern Albania, about 3 hours from Tirana by car. One of Sarande's best beaches is Mirror Beach. Another must-see attraction in Sarande is Lekuresi Castle, situated on a hill overlooking the town and offering a breathtaking view of the coast.
The next day, explore Gjirokatser, a historic town in southern Albania, about 3.5 hours from Tirana by car. The town is known for its beautiful Ottoman-era architecture, including famous stone houses with slate roofs, a castle and an ethnographic museum. Gjirokatser is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its well-preserved old town.
Korce is a cultural center located in eastern Albania, about 4 hours from Tirana by car. The town is known for its beautiful architecture, lively art scene and delicious cuisine. Korce is also a great place to learn more about Albanian history and culture by exploring the National Museum of Medieval Art and Old Bazaar, a lively market selling everything from local crafts to fresh produce.
