Swayambhunath: Located 4 km from Kathmandu, this Buddhist stupa is believed to be 2000 years old, one of the oldest and most prestigious Buddhist chaityas. The chaitya (stupa) is a solid hemisphere made of brick and earth, supporting a conical spire with a gold-plated top. Buddha's all-seeing eyes are painted on each side of the spire.
