14 day adventure trip to Rwanda

Today upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by one of our company representatives who will welcome you to the land of a thousand hills, give you a brief introduction about your safari and later transfer you to your booked accommodation.

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the hills of Mount Kigali in Nyamirambo for a hike to the top where you will experience a magnificent panoramic view of the entire city of Kigali.

On the way back from Mount Kigali, you will be driven to Nyamirambo, where you will visit the market with a group of Nyamirambo women who will give you an insight into the culture and traditional way of life of Rwandans. You will have some Kinyarwanda language lessons. You will visit the house of a local resident. Meet local vendors in Nyamirambo to discuss with them how they conduct their daily business. 

Later, you will have a traditional local lunch prepared and served in the house of one of the Nyamirambo women's group members just before the visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

In the morning after breakfast, we go to visit the Ethnographic Museum, where you will learn more about Past Rwanda’s kingdoms, discovery of lifestyle of Rwandans from the colonial time up to date, and the colonial architecture that was used you will embark on your journey to Nyungwe National park, driving through unwinding rolling hills and landscapes for roughly 2 hours. Upon arrival head  to your lodge for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Today, after your early morning cap of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch before visit the Gisakura tea plantation where you will have a crop to cup tea experience you will visit the tea fields and interact with the farmers on how tea is grown, and harvested, you can also participate in the process of harvesting and then later visit the processing factory to see the other final stages until you tea is served in a cup. Later head to your hotel for diner and overnight.

After your breakfast you will go to the canopy. This 90 metre long metal suspension bridge offers a beautiful view of the Nyungwe forest. Afterwards you will return to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a walk in the local community near the Nyungwe forest to see what the daily life of the Rwandans is like. Later you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

You will go into the forest for a hike near waterfalls, where you will have the opportunity to see various types of plantations in Nyungwe Park. Along the way, you may see primates and various bird species. You will return for lunch before going back to walk around to see the monkeys in the Nyungwe forest.

After your breakfast, you will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kivu and visit the different islands of the lake.

Later after the transfer to Kibuye, you will visit the environmental museum to learn more about the flora and fauna of Rwanda. You will have a new experience with the fishermen before midnight. Afterwards you return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Musanze. You will visit the coffee plantations in Kinunu and the doll workshop in Gisenyi for widow women who make handicraft materials.

On arrival you will go for a walk in the town to see how Rwandans live and then return to the hotel.

Take a coffee, then get ready for the gorilla briefing by the park staff. Afterwards, you will enter the jungle to start the ascent of the Bisoke volcano (6 hours hiking). A good physical condition and a good pair of shoes are necessary for this activity.

In the afternoon you will return to your hotel.

After your breakfast the driver will take you to the centre of the park for a briefing and start your day's trekking with the monkeys. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, afterwards you will go for a canoe ride in Burera and Ruhondo lakes which will offer you the opportunity to see different types of birds and enjoy the beautiful view of the volcano range. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will leave for Akagera National Park. The drive to Akagera National Park takes about 4 hours depending on the stops made which offer a magnificent view of the land of a thousand hills (feel free to ask the guides to make stops for photos).

On arrival at the park, check in at the park office, then you will go to your accommodation to order lunch and later we will head inside the park for a short walk through the park to see the animals. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner.

After breakfast at 6.00 am, departure with the driver in the Land Cruiser jeep 4x4 for a drive in the Akagera National Park. We look for large mammals such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, different species of antelopes, lions and rhinos recently reintroduced in the park.

Later you will return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch you will go on a boat trip to Lake Ihema inside the park where you can watch hippos and crocodiles in the water.

Later you will return to the lodge for dinner.

You will leave your lodge after breakfast and head for a short walk in the forest before returning to Kigali.

On arrival in Kigali you will visit the local market in Kimironko and the surrounding area of Kigali. Your driver will drive you to the accommodation reserved for you.

After getting done with your relaxed morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your onward flight. Depending on your flight time (if it is in the afternoon). We will have the city tour by visiting the Nyamirambo Women Centre for walking around in Kigali suburb to experience the way of living for Rwandans prior to your departure flight
