Sanibel and Captiva: Florida's Paradise Islands
For a taste of eternity and white sand, the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, off the coast of Fort Myers on the west coast, represent the ultimate paradise destination. The beaches are covered with shells, the intensely blue sea is constantly traversed by dolphins, and the inland areas are ideal for long bike rides, such as in the J.N. Ding Darling Natural Refuge.
In the evening, the sunsets are splendid. The atmosphere, more harmonious than in Key West, is imbued with a true solemnity. There is no shortage of activities, and cruises to the surrounding islands, true tropical paradises for wealthy residents (manatees leading the way!), offer surprising and enriching excursions. Finally, the islands are close to downtown and all attractions, from Tampa to Orlando, including the Everglades.
