During the Têt, it is often difficult to travel from abroad to Vietnam (means of transport being stormed by the overseas Vietnamese of return to the country) and inside Vietnam, where planes and trains allow family reunion. Other parameter: during the high season (July and August, in particular), prices are rising and, given the country's closeness, you will feel like following a tourist motorway.
A diverse and spectacular natureFrom the mandarin road that crosses the country from north to south, we see the sea and the white sandy beaches. Mountainous and forest landscapes, karst landforms planted in the rice fields, an exceptional site of the bay of Along with more than 3 000 islands emerging from the Gulf of Tonkin, the immensity of mangrove forests in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam deploys the north of beautiful scenery to the south.Accompanied by a competent guide commissioned by a local agency, you will be able to explore the beautiful landscapes of Vietnam during a tailor-made trip.A rich cultural heritageVietnam is a very old country in the shadow of the great Chinese and Indian civilizations, but has managed to build an original identity. It is rich in a history that has provided the architectural wonders bequeathed by a tall and ancient ancient endowed with multiple heritages.A mosaic of identitiesVietnam has at least 54 different ethnic groups. This ethnic mosaic is still enriched by the multiplicity of spiritual legacies. If you organise your trip on-line with a local agency, you will meet regularly with Vietnamese and this will give rise to warm exchanges for an authentic discovery of the country.A country still preservedIn Vietnam, a very ancient world must cope with new constraints. Trade with the outside world continues to develop. However, the country remains faithful to itself, without renouncing its internal rhythm.
Vietnam can travel in (very) good conditions, with relatively low costs compared to other destinations. Some prices:A bowl of pho: 25 000 VND.One room in an economic hotel of a large city: US $ 20.Rental of a motorcycle: US $ 6/day.A race (20 minutes) in cyclo: about 80 000 VND.A packet of cigarettes: from 15 000 to 40 000 VND depending on the brand and your negotiating capacity (the Vietnamese pay 35 000 VND a Marlboro package).Vietnamese coffee: between 5 000 and 40 000 VND according to the establishment.Know about prices: to avoid misunderstandings, before you restore you, systematically ask for prices when they are not indicated. You may have great surprises on the addition, regardless of the location of the establishment.
Similarly, for race races or Honda-ôm, the best is to write the agreed price by specifying the number of people (that a total price does not turn into price per person).
Vietnamese prices and tourist prices: it is sometimes!, but a system, initially official (endangered because of the constraints of Vietnamese economic integration), and which has entered mentalities, wants tourists - are they not richer? - pay more than the Vietnamese. The reasoning is less and less justified, but before the single tariff is applied everywhere and by everyone, we must resign ourselves. You get used very quickly to know the price range to try to reach the right limit in marchandant. We must be able to stay in the middle, not to get silly, but not to fall into the obsession of paying exactly the Vietnamese price!FormalitésVisa application to the Embassy of Vietnam. Visa can be obtained through the form available on the embassy website. Provide for 15 days. Price of tourist visa: 80 (postal charges are included); validity: one month.
A few words in Vietnamese often change the reports. And even if you can't make speeches (the Vietnamese language, with six tones, is one of the most difficult), learn the basics (thanks, hello), count and key phrases.
Even though this is not obvious at first, French is still being practised in Vietnam. It will not be rare in markets or in shops that people are spontaneously happy to be able to address you in our language, with a tutorial in the use of some of the most pleasant pre-outmoded formulas.
If a large number of Vietnamese had put themselves in Russian or German over the last few decades, these two languages have gone through fashion.
Chinese and certain Asian languages such as Japanese or Korean are attracting more and more students as a result of economic prospects. But finally it is English. Everyone is doing this with astonishing speed; English-language manuals are in all hands and occupy most of the shelves in the bookshops.Learning language: There are different ways to learn a few basics of language and the offer for self-learning can be done on different media: CD, DVD, exercise books or even directly on the Internet.
The national currency is Dông, which is written in ABRÉGÉ (Ti?ng Dông). Since 17 December 2003, the national Bank of Vietnam has placed new banknotes in circulation. These 500 000, 100 000, 50 000 and 20 000 VND notes have the particularity of being printed on polymer (to thwart counterfeiters and because they are more resistant).Since August 30, 2006, there have been new polymer notes of 10 000 and 200 000 VND. The new cuts continue to coexist with the old 5 000, 2 000, 1 000, 500, 200 and 100 VND notes.Beware of possible confusion between 100 000 VND and 10 000 VND notes. They are smaller... Also between 500 000 VND and 20 000 VND notes, whose blue, with the strength of being délavé by time and wear, ends up confusing themselves.Parts of 200, 500, 1 000, 2 000 and 5 000 VND were also put into circulation in 2003. They have finally disappeared, having been judged to be of little practice by the population.Even if a law stipulates that everything must be paid in Dông, in the tourist places many prices are advertised in US dollars. The euro is much less used, but increasingly accepted.
The climate being different from north to south, see "Climate" to avoid heavy rains. As a result of global climate change, it is increasingly difficult to build on the right season. It can be disrupted by the arrival of an unusual cyclone, a wave of cold, intense heat, thunderstorms... In the north, the month of the Têt (the lunar new year) is usually a cool period (this is a euphemism because of the humidity, this freshness brings you to the marrow) where the domine dominates, which offers the opportunity to attend many traditional events in Hanoi and in the surrounding villages (February and April).
