The Banco National Park, located in the heart of Abidjan, is home to various endangered animals like elephants, symbols of the country, and large trees such as silk-cotton trees and baobabs. Most of the animals in the Abidjan zoo come from this dense forest.
Nicknamed the "Paris of Africa," Abidjan is a cosmopolitan metropolis with over 4 million inhabitants. It is distinguished by its skyscrapers in the Plateau district and its modern urban planning. The National Museum of Abidjan exhibits valuable items related to pottery, historical musical instruments, and ancient masks.
450 km northwest of Abidjan, Man lies at the heart of a mountainous region offering stunning landscapes. From Mount Tonkoui, one can see Guinea and Liberia. Korhogo, the capital of northern Côte d'Ivoire, is known for its ancestral practice of fetishism. Young boys are initiated into "poro," a series of rites in the sacred forest, culminating in the mystical mask festival, reserved for men.
